Johanna Mair is a professor of organization, strategy and leadership at the Hertie School in Berlin and co-directs the Global Innovation for Impact Lab at the Stanford Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society. She is the academic editor of the Stanford Social Innovation Review, a print and online publication that curates and disseminates research- and practice-based knowledge on social change. Johanna’s research centers on how organizations tackle societal challenges and alter institutional contexts. She is particularly interested in specifying alternative forms of organizing and transformative mechanisms. Her research has been published in journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Annals, and Journal of Management. The award winning co-authored book on Innovation and Scaling – How effective Social Entrepreneurs create Impact has made this research accessible to a broader audience.
