Hemant Merchant (PhD, Purdue) is an Professor of Strategy and International management. His research focuses on better understanding the drivers of performance of firms operating in Emerging markets worldwide as well as those of firms operating in non-manufacturing industries. He has written extensively about shareholder value creation through joint ventures and about the performance implications of corporate strategic architecture when firms venture into international markets. His work has been published in several leading journals, including the Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management and Management International Review. Hemant Merchant has taught at prestigious universities in Canada, Germany, Italy, Thailand, and the United States where he has been consistently recognized for his unconventional and innovative approach to strategic problem-solving. From 2006 to 2008, Hemant Merchant was an elected representative-at-large for the SMS’s Global Strategy interest group.
