Aline Gatignon
University of Pennsylvania

Aline Gatignon studies how companies can create public and private value by forming cross-sector partnerships (i.e., with public and nonprofit organizations) to address socio-political problems of mutual interest. The empirical settings she studies include include cosmetics in Brazil, logistics and healthcare partnerships in Africa, Corporate Social Responsibility in India, and corporate disaster response worldwide. In her work, Aline seeks to explain when and why firms choose to collaborate with cross-sector partners, how they manage to do so and what the impact is on those firms and society. The mechanisms she examines span different levels of analysis, from the individual level to cross-country comparisons.
