Robert Phillips

Robert Phillips is George R. Gardiner Professor in Business Ethics and Professor of Strategic Management at the York University’s Schulich School of Business in Toronto. His work on stakeholder theory and corporate responsibility has appeared in Strategic Management Journal, Business Ethics Quarterly, Journal of Management, and the Academy of Management Review among others. He is author of Stakeholder Theory and Organizational Ethics (2003) and is co-editor (w/ J. Harrison, J. Barney, & R.E. Freeman) of the Cambridge Handbook of Stakeholder Theory (2019). He has held leadership positions in the Academy of Management and the Strategic Management Society and is also past president of the Society for Business Ethics. He was awarded the titles of Master Teacher in Ethics by The Wheatley Institution at Brigham Young University, Senior Fellow at the Olsson Center for Applied Ethics at Darden, and Affiliate Research Scholar at the Rutgers Institute for Corporate Social Innovation (RICSI). He was a founding member of the Stakeholder Strategy IG.
